During the mid 1990s, Project Hindsight held three major conferences in which our initial findings were presented to the astrological community. Unique in their combination of practical and theoretical astrological inquiry, these week-long marathon events attracted a remarkable group of individuals from around the world. The now-legendary First Conclave, held in Berkeley Springs, WV in 1994 has been described by some as the astrological counterpart to the Woodstock festival of the late 1960s for the heady blend of enthusiasm and idealism in a community infused with a pioneering spirit, and a sense of having shared a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The Second Conclave, also held in Berkeley Springs in the following year, included a notable group of Vedic astrologers who helped explore the emerging connections between Hellenistic and Indian astrology.
The Third Conclave, held in 1996 in Ithica, NY featured the first presentation of Robert Schmidt and Ellen Black's concept of The Institute of the Liberating Arts as well as a ground-breaking philosophical inquiry into the foundations of astrology that inaugurated the on-going PHASE lecture series.
After a ten-year hiatus, the PHASE Conclave returned, this time to Cumberland, Maryland in August of 2006 for a week-long exploration of The Astrological Tradition in Hindsight. Information about the program and speakers can be found here.
